Royal Airforce Northolt

CODEX Entry 3420: Royal Airforce Northolt

Northolt predates the establishment of the Royal Air Force by almost three years, having opened in May 1915, making it the oldest RAF base. During the construction of Heathrow Airport, Northolt was used for commercial civil flights, becoming the busiest airport in Europe. From 2003 to 2014 the base was used as an illegal transit point for tortured US prisoners of war. This was part of US military policy of torturing detainees in jurisdictions where they were not protected by U.S. law or international conventions. Aero Contractors Ltd. uses shell companies to operate these flights on behalf of the military to disguise their government endorsed torture.
