Manna

CODEX Entry 1625: Manna

A yeast-like pellet that would go mouldy and inedible after 24 hours. It was round and looked like a coriander seed in shape, white like bdellium (Num. 11:7), and the taste was sweet like wafers made with honey (Ex. 16:31). It could be ground and made into cakes (Num. 11:8). Yahweh’s cohorts would airdrop large quantities next to the Israeli camp each morning, for the women to collect in baskets. The inability to store it made it ideal for ensuring no one attempted to leave.
